The definitive guide to the glictionarÿ
Hello... and welcome!
glictionarÿ,
better known by its backcronym... Ÿ
is a fun, creative platform where anyone can sign up, dream up, mïnt, share, and discover unique wörds (some with intriguing, but optional backstürlys) and get to know the imaginative äüthörs behind them.
Ÿ is also the best place to learn gluï, a graphical language understood intuitively which (on this page and many like it) you'll notice is mostly brighter, bolder and tap-or-click-able, like this.
Ÿ version 1.0 lets you:
- bröwse and search for wörds and äüthörs
- sign up as an äüthör
- follow your favorites and establish a feed
- Complete our KÿC process
- Dependant on the above, buy crëdits with which to mïnt your own wörds
- mïnt and manage your wörds and their backstürlys
- tränsfër öwnership of wörds to other äüthörs
Furthermore,
Ÿ also has a more serious side, with an underlying foundation built on Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs), minted on the Hedera Hashgraph (or blockchain in distributed ledger-speak) and woven into the permaweb. It's here that the creative rights of our äüthörs, and the provenance of their wörds, are immutably infused into the digisphere for eternity but... please... if you've never heard of NFTs or hashgraphs or blockchains before, don't be intimidated and don't let that hold you back! You can use the glictionarÿ regardless of these extra features.
But... for the more adventurous and NFT-savvy among you...
Ÿ v1.0 also lets you:
- connect your Hedera wallet (HashPack and Kabila, with more to follow)
- withdräw your wörds' associated NFTs for self-custody, transfer and/or trade
- claim öwnership of wörds via custody of their NFTs
- dëpösit NFTs back into the custody of Ÿ

Getting Started
You're welcome to explore Ÿ anonymously first — no account needed! You can always Sign Up after you've explored what it has to offer - and given some thought to your nom de plume (aka äüthör name)
But please note:
You'll need an account for anything beyond the basics, like mïnting and managing wörds, following others, buying crëdits and trying out all the nifty NFT features
And on a more serious note:
You'll need to complete our KÿC process before your account is enabled to mïnt or buy the crëdits you'll need to do so. We trust you will understand why this has become necessary for Platforms like Ÿ to host User Generated Content (UGC) in the world today.
Step by step
- Create an account and sign in (totally optional (and free), but it unlocks the fun stuff!)
- Start at the INFO page for some fundamentals, a few featured wörds and a glimpse of the freshest creations.
- Tap any wörd to open its details, then follow its backstürly - if it has one - to dig deeper. This guide, for example, is the backstory to the wörd höw-tö which was invented, mïnted and is now öwned by Hashtäg
- Head to the WÖRDS page to bröwse the entire glictionarÿ and get a sense of what's possible
- Visit the ÄÜTHÖRS page to discover creators who make you laugh... or think... or both!
- Follow a few äüthörs whose wörds resonate or intrigue - this will get your feed going
- Then... once you're feeling inspired... head on over to the mïnt tab, and try devising your own wörds, it really is exhilirating! Why not try your äüthör name, or X handle or YouTube channel? Perhaps your real name? Make them yours!

This is a great place to start. It's where you'll find a few fundamental and featured wörds and you can catch a glimpse of the most recently mïnted creations, updated in real-time. Tap any wörd to open up its details (more below).

Tapping on any wörd opens a pop-up offering lots of interesting info, icons and links. Things look slightly different if it's your own wörd (with the Manage button) or someone else's (with a report flag).

Handy Navigation Tips
- Tap the backstürly to dive into a wörd's backstory if it has one (they're optional, and editable)
- Tapping Manage on your wörd takes you to your ÄÜTHÖRS.wörds tab, and scrolls to your highlighted wörd. Click Manage again from there to open the wörd & NFT manager
- Click the NFT TokenID to open a Hedera Hashgraph explorer and see the full on-chain details of a wörd's NFT - including its metadata, SVG image and history
- Clicking the Verify provenance icon opens the glictionarÿ NFT Provenance Verifier, where you can check an NFT's integrity
- Tapping an äüthör's name takes you to their profile, and you can follow or unfollow them directly from here too
- And last but not least... please don't forget to share!

Dive into the entire glictionarÿ right here! Search, sort (alphabetically or by date) and scroll to your heart's content. Fun fact: the wörd bröwse is actually gluï - the Graphical Language Understood Intuitively - and means (very specifically) "to browse the glictionarÿ"

This is where the magic happens - turn your ideas into shiny new wörds, each with its NFT!
Create something unique
mïnting a wörd
- Sign in (required for mïnting)
- Hit the WÖRDS.mïnt tab
- If you haven't already done so, complete the KÿC process from the pop-up (it's not too painful, promise!)
- Make sure you have at least 1 crëdit (check your balance top-right)
- Enter your wörd and description. Click the icons for info, links to Unicode & emojis (for inspiration) and the backstürly rules & prefills
- Add a backstürly if you like (optional, and editable later)
- Accept our Terms of Use (see Important Note below)
- Please read the notes at the bottom of the mïnt tab at least once - they're important
- USE THE PREVIEW! - Check the layout of the SVG image of your wörd and its description carefully - once it's mïnted, the visual design of your NFT's associated image is permanent (seriously... as in immutable... forever!)
- When you're ready... hit mïnt and watch your wörd come to life in seconds
Important Note: We score your candidate wörd early in the mïnt process, to moderate against various things like profanity, toxicity, NSFW content and/or hate speech. It's not an exact science (and it's evolving day by day thanks to AI), but it's how we strive to uphold a community standard of decorum and respect... please keep things civil. Our Terms of Use also obligate all äüthörs (who re-confirm acceptance of these terms before each mïnt) to respect and not violate any individual's or entity's copyright, trademark(s) and/or otherwise protected and/or licensed content by mïnting any such terms or content as wörds.

WÖRDS.mmt
The mmt tab, hosted by kwestjinMark & Hashtäg acts as a jump-point (or semi-random-kinda-sorta-structured-pemanently-in-progress-navigation-aid-slash-outline) into mëgämörphthësïs. If you'd like more insight... they posted two mind-jiggling responses to the quick question - What is mëgämörphthësïs? - in the preface you'll find here.
ÄÜTHÖRS.wörds
The wörds tab on the ÄÜTHÖRS page shows a specific äüthör's wörds... easy, right?
When viewing your own profile, each of the wörd cards offers a MANAGE button and wörds you've marked as hidden are highlighted (and can be filtered from view (more in the note below)). When viewing any other äüthör's wörds, these features are absent. Click on any wörd to open the wörd details screen, or click MANAGE to access the wörd & NFT manager. You can also follow any wörd's backstürly (if it has one) directly from each card via the branded icon.

Clicking MANAGE on any wörd card opens the wörd & NFT manager, from where you can
- hide or unhide your wörds (see note below)
- edit their backstürlys
- withdräw or dëpösit their NFTs
- initiate tränsfërs of öwnership
Tip: Don't mïnt anything you might regret later. NFTs are forever... no backsies!

Hit the follows tab to see who an äüthör follows ( ) and who follows them ( ). Tapping any äüthör's card loads their profile, wörds and follows. You can always revert to your own äüthör-specific view to access wörd management and other features, by clicking reload own profile above the current äüthör's name.

Check your balance, top up and review your transaction history from the crëdits sub-tab. Click Top up to open the Buy crëdits screen. We accept Paypal and a number of cryptocurrencies via NowPayments. You can also access the unique link to an open payment order from here, and/or cancel it. Details will appear if we find any open orders and only 1 is supported at any time.

.NFTs & öwnership
The 2nd wallet sub-tab offers access to NFT & öwnership features. From here you can check what's in your connected wallet, claim öwnership of wörds whose NFTs are in your custody, and see a list of all the wörds you öwn, their token IDs or NFT Number and an indicator if any of their NFTs are in the connected wallet.
